11/1/10 - Day 318
Today's Daily Shoot #351 was: "The word balance has many meanings, literal and abstract. Pick one and make a photograph today." Was trying to use some off-camera flash backlighting while simulating a tightrope walk. Ran out of time so I went with my best shot of this poorly executed assignment.

Cherish
9/3/10 - Day 259
Taken for the Daily Shoot #292: "Make a photograph of one of the least expensive things that you cherish." I cherish Lin all the time, but on the days she works, it qualifies as "least expensive".

Shadows in B/W
6/24/10 - Day 188
With a full day in the office and then a 24 hour trip to SF, I knew there would be no time to shoot today. Before leaving for the train to downtown, I noticed the long shadows and silhouettes created on the deck by the rising sun. Fired off a few shots, which in color were pretty mundane. I experimented with some Lightroom settings and opted for high contrast B/W which make the shots much more dramatic.
While a day late, I also am submitting to the Daily Shoot for yesterday's shadow assignment. See my Flickr photostream for the runner-up shot.

Finding the Cure?
6/14/10 - Day 178
Was touring some life science facilities in Boston today and saw this guy conversing on the phone at a Harvard Medical School research building in the Longwood section. Couldn't help but wonder if he was discussing a cure for some dreaded disease or lining up a date for the weekend.

Great Day!
6/6/10 - Day 170
Beautiful day today (up until 2pm) which meant a great 40 mile bike ride and then hanging out on the deck. I checked the Daily Shoot #203: "Lens flare is typically avoided, but can be used deliberately to good effect. Make a photo with creative lens flare." I was able to fulfill that assignment and describe the day in one shot.

Best Burrito
4/28/10 - Day 131
This was without doubt the toughest shooting day since I started P365. Jammed up all day and had barely enough time to grab dinner at my all time favorite burrito place, Los Compadres in South San Francisco, before going to a marathon City Council meeting. As we were getting our burritos, the fixin's for the dinner crowd was being grilled up and I was fortunate to even get this shot off with my camera phone. Today is my only "one shot day" so far.

Sax Man
4/25/10 - Day 128
Gloomy day today so I took the Daily Shoot Challenge: "Side lighting can emphasize texture and add depth to a photo. Make a dramatic photo with side lighting today." Took a piece of sculpture we have and placed it in front of a west facing window. Post-processing in B/W made it more dramatic and added depth.

Pattern Glass
4/23/10 - Day 126
Today's Daily Shoot assignment was: "...Make a photo of a repeating subject while considering composition and DOF." About to give up and just shoot something else for my P365, I noticed the pattern on the glass in our illuminated kitchen cabinets. The 50mm/f1.8 allowed for some good depth of field options.

Muni Stop
4/14/10 - Day 117
3rd & Market; one of San Francisco's busiest Muni stops. Shot at 10:15pm, there is still plenty of activity in this area.

Sixty-One Years
3/28/10 - Day 100
Lin's folks celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary yesterday. I wanted a meaningful subject for my 100th day image, so I shot this before we took them out to brunch today.

Reflections in a Multi-Pane Window
3/15/10 - Day 87
Trying to use the Daily Shoot assignment as my theme, I took several shots of trees in silhouette. This image is a reflection of the sunset in our front window, which has 3 panes of glass. Each pane displays its own reflection, hence the shadow effect. See my Smugmug gallery for the "runner-up" shot.

The Taper
2/16/10 - Day 60
My plan today was to shoot at one of our construction sites. This just happened to coincide with the Daily Shoot assignment. It's great when that happens!

Energy
1/31/10 - Day 44
Another great assignment from The Daily Shoot, this one involving energy created by edges. Out driving today, I noticed the silhouette of high tension lines and towers against the sky and thought about the synergy of the assignment and the subject matter.
