Recent participation in some photography forums has piqued an interest in doing a Project 365. Photography has been a hobby on and off for over 40 years and in the last 18 months my interest has intensified. So I've decided to jump in, give it a shot (no pun intended) and see if I can shoot every day for a year.

My expectations for this project are that it will provide motivation to expand my skills both behind the camera and in post-processing and provide a vehicle for experimentation. My photog pal Doug has been a great mentor, so I want to publicly say thanks; this is your fault (kidding of course).

It is going to be a learning experience, so any and all comments, critiques and encouraging words are welcome.

Thanks for viewing.

Comfortably Numb

12/8/10 - Day 355
I had the great fortune tonight to see the Roger Waters-The Wall concert at HP Pavilion in San Jose. Being a Pink Floyd fan, it was a rare opportunity.  Amazing music and visuals.  Check out this link for an additional shot.

Not So White Album

11/23/10 - Day 340
From the time I read today's Daily Shoot assignment #373 (shooting white on white), I knew that my copy of the Beatles White Album was going to be my subject.  Not so happy with the processing of this one, but ran out of time & patience tonight.

Another Beatles Tune

11/15/10 - Day 332
Shot for today's Daily Shoot #365 anniversary calendar theme: "Can you believe it's been a year of @dailyshoot?  We can't!  Make a photograph with a calendar theme today."

This should be an easy song to name.  Check out the Flickr Photostream for the answer.

Newport Music Hall

10/14/10 - Day 300
My son's band, Shank Bone (shankbonemusic.com), was the opening act tonight at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio. This venue is the largest and most famous they've played to date. I was not going to miss it. Shank Bone did not disappoint and I was a proud pop. BTW, my son is the drummer.

Hands of My Son

9/5/10 - Day 261
I knew exactly what to shoot when I saw the Daily Shoot assignment #294: "A person's hands can tell a story. Take a picture of someone's hands today."  Our son's band came in from Ohio to play a set in the Buffalo Grove Days community festival.  He's the drummer and he agreed to be the subject.

I took a few shots of their show and put them in a SmugMug gallery at:

Cheese

7/23/10 - Day 217
Great trip to Denver to visit my son.  Had to chance to see a band I like (String Cheese Incident) at Red Rocks, a venue I've heard a lot about but never seen.  Pretty amazing place.

Sax Man

4/25/10 - Day 128
Gloomy day today so I took the Daily Shoot Challenge: "Side lighting can emphasize texture and add depth to a photo. Make a dramatic photo with side lighting today."  Took a piece of sculpture we have and placed it in front of a west facing window.  Post-processing in B/W made it more dramatic and added depth.

Old School

4/21/10 - Day 124
Today's Daily Shoot assignment is "...Make a photo today that in some way conveys your taste in music."  Pulled out the old turntable and old vinyl for this shot.

Rockin' the House

3/20/10 - Day 92
Drove to Cleveland today to see our son's band play at Beachland Ballroom.  Great groove, people dancing, lighted hoola hoops, spotlights blazing. Shank Bone rocked the house!  Mom & Dad were pretty proud.  Click the link for the "runner-up" image at my Smugmug gallery.

Shank Bone

1/25/10 - Day 38
My son's band, Shank Bone, played a gig at Jackie O's Pub in Athens, Ohio and he uploaded one of their songs to YouTube today.  The URL for the video is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knbKYw9uk0w.  Check it out.  Image is from computer screen shot with my D90 on a tripod.
