11/30/10 - Day 347
I don't know if this bridge in Boston, designed by Calatrava, follows the Golden Ratio (Daily Shoot #380), but it is one beautiful piece of architecture and engineering. Taken this evening on the way to Logan Airport for my flight back to Chicago.

SymmetriCam
10/26/10 - Day 312
Right before leaving my San Francisco office, I saw the Daily Shoot assignment #345: "Make a photograph today where vertical elements or lines dominate the scene." After a site visit in Hayward, I realized the vertical expression of the San Mateo Bridge light poles was as good as it was going to get today. Shot using FxCamera on my Android phone.

Under Repair
8/2/10 - Day 227
Running an errand this afternoon, I noticed the Congress Parkway bridge undergoing repair. I liked the contrast between the "lacy" scaffolding and "bold" bridge structure. Went back out later with my camera and framed this shot.

Avoiding Collapse
7/3/10 - Day 197
Looked for signs today that conveyed an irony and wasn't successful. Decided to make the Daily Shoot assignment #230 more of a composition challenge instead.

Taxi!!!
5/5/10 - Day 138
Was on North Michigan Avenue this afternoon and decided to hop the water taxi back to the office. It was a beautiful day on the Chicago River.

Above the Bridge
4/30/10 - Day 133
A three hour delay at SFO due to weather in Chicago and the need for additional fuel resulted in a takeoff on runway 28R out to the west. Although rare, when it does happen, it is usually a treat because the views are either of Marin or the City. Turning back to the east, I was able to get a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Small consolation for what turned out to be a 4+ hour delay.

Blue Umbrellas
4/7/10 - Day 110
Today in a drizzling rain, I took a few shots at sidewalk level before hustling to the train. In review, I liked this one where the two umbrellas could be isolated.

Fog Layer
2/15/10 - Day 59
In all the years I've been flying into SFO, the fog layer has never been this low. This image is the of the San Mateo Bridge peeking through the clouds while on approach. We were in the clouds until seconds before touchdown.

Golden Gate
1/20/10 - Day 33
Even with stormy weather in San Francisco, the grandeur of the Golden Gate Bridge is captivating, but the "Golden" was lost in the gloom. Since I couldn't bring out the color of the bridge, I used post-processing to substitute golden in the sky instead.
